What is Trojan horse

A Trojan is a program that runs hidden on an infected computer. A Trojan horse is a destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. unlike viruses, Trojan horse do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive even more. A Trojan horse may appear on a victim computer claiming to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces virus into your system.


The term Trojan horse comes from the Greek myth of the Trojan war, in which the Greeks give a giant wooden horse to their foe, the Trojans  as a peace offering. But after the horse was dragged into the Trojan city walls. The Greek soldiers who hit themselves inside the wooden horse sneak out of the horse's hollow belly and open the Trojan city gate, allowing their army, the "Greeks" to pour in and capture troy.
